Indian prime minister Narendra Modi declared that the central government would provide Covid -19 vaccine free for adults from June 21 onwards. While addressing the nation, the prime minister has further specified that the central government will provide 75% of the vaccines, including 25% jabs given to the state authorities. The vaccine jabs will be free of cost to the state.
Some of the highlights from the speech are:
- The Centre will be providing free vaccines from June 21.
- The vaccine jabs will be available to adults aged 18 and above.
- The jabs will be cost-free.
- Out of the total vaccines produced, 75% of vaccine jabs will be given to state departments free of cost.
- Private hospitals will have 25% jabs of the jabs. They can charge the vaccines as 150 rupees per dose.
Only 50% of the vaccines produced by the vaccine make wad given to the central government, but after the announcement, ut will be up to 75%. The prime minister has also extended the free ratoon scheme called Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana till the festival of lights Diwali.
The government is making an effort to stand with the poor of the country suffering due to the pandemic. By November, more than 80 crores Indians will benefit from the ration scheme.
In the third announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Indian citizens that seven pharmaceutical companies would help produce the covid-19 vaccine. More than three vaccines of different kinds are in trial stages, and approval will be done soon. The research is to create a nasal spray that is more effective than taking simple jabs. This concept will be part of the Made of India campaign led by the Indian prime minister himself.
In the ending part of the speech, the prime minister urged his countrymen to come forward and create awareness about the vaccination campaign. He recommended that people be aware of false rumors and motivate the young population to come forward.
