The Deal between Apple and Appian Way
Leonardo DiCaprio’s baby, Appian Way, has inked a TV and film deal with one of the most prominent players in the game, Apple. According to the newly developed pact, Appian Way will produce many new films along with TV series exclusively for Apple. This deal follows the three-year contract, which Appian Way previously enjoyed with Paramount Pictures. Appian Way also had a deal with Warner Bros. before making the controversial shift to Paramount Pictures.
Apple TV Plus currently features “Killers of Flower Moon” and “Shining Girl,” both of which belong to Appian Way. Flower Moon was an instant hit, a movie for which Apple shelled out $200 million. Flower Moon featured Leonardo DiCaprio along with his former director, Martin Scorsese. On the other hand, Shining Girls features Elisabeth Moss. This newly signed pact is the latest in Apple’s recent signings. Apple also supports lesser-heard talents such as Idris Elba, A24, Ridley Scott, Imagine Documentaries, Sesame Workshop, and Peanuts.
Leonardo DiCaprio is an actor, philanthropist, and producer. Born in the home of Hollywood, Los Angeles, DiCaprio started with small roles in television commercials. His first break came in 1993, with the immensely popular movie, “This Boy’s Life.” Furthermore, he also acted as a supporting character in “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” in the same year.
DiCaprio’s first international hit was Titanic. This romance movie, coupled with tragedy, was the highest-grossing film at that time. Collecting more than $2 billion in revenue, it remains one of the highest-grossing films to date. However, his career took a turn for the worse, with many unsuccessful films. He returned with a bang in 2003, with the movie, “Catch Me If You Can.” His other notable works include “Blood Diamond,” “The Departed,” “Once upon a Time in Hollywood,” to name a few.
Appian Way is a Los Angeles based production company. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson founded it in the year 2004. Recently, the company has shifted its focus to documentaries as well. Appian Way has worked with the National Geographic to produce lovely sows, such as “Before the Flood.”
